Rainy Night in London
is cut out for things to happen quietly —
Whistling trees, enigmatic sky, I know tonight
winds from afar, raindrops tinged with city glitter,
each a world in itself, round and warm, like the marble
in the hand of a child, ingrained with a bright stripe
at the unreachable core — what jovial marvel.
Sunset unhurriedly crimsons the room like a peony.
A wet wintriness sneaks up my sleeves
The tube entrance displays a muted diaphanous lightness.
before drifting out of the window to join the boundless sea.
The drifters under the bridge exhale and inhale, no different from jellyfish.
The regrets that he lain dormant all spring
will awaken in her all of a sudden.

Who are they still out in the rain, to wash off tears or wash their clothes?
